Making it simple to start a good habit

We don’t believe in fine print. That’s why we’ve outlined what you can expect from us and how you can prepare to start this good habit on the right foot.

In order to make sure we’re the right fit for you, all new clients must complete an initial assessment with one of our providers. The call is quick (and free), and will cover generalities: why you’re seeking therapy, and your therapy goals. Once you schedule an intake session, be on the look-out for a call from us.

Appointment types
(and what to expect)

How we
work (and why):

  • Manage and book appointments through our online portal

Sometimes even the act of picking up the phone or drafting an email is a barrier preventing people from seeking help. By being able to book online, we try to make it as easy as possible for people to ask for help.

  • All virtual appointments with video links always available via the portal

Life expects a lot of us. Virtual appointments make it just a little bit easier. It’s hard enough to manage getting from point A to point B. Whether those points are work and school, work and daycare pick-up, or work and home, virtual appointments allow us to fit in self-care when it otherwise wouldn’t be possible to “get there.” Also, when logistics aren’t the issue, sometimes our anxieties and fears get in the way of seeking help in person. Where to park, what bus to take, walking in the wrong office are all thoughts that can prevent us from booking that appointment we really need. We try our best to remove those barriers, and this is just one way we do that.

  • Cashless payments

Easy for you, easy for us.

  • We do not take insurance

We understand this is a big one. While we’re happy to provide you with “superbills” to submit to your insurance company as an out-of-network service, we currently do not take insurance and will require full payment at the end of each session. Unfortunately, insurance companies aren’t the easiest to deal with and can be inconsistent with payments and communication. As we want to make sure the the Good Habit counselors are competitively compensated and are able to provide the best service possible, this is the best way to do so. If you have questions about sliding-scale payments, email us at info@goodhabitmentalhealth.com.

  • You must be in the state of New Jersey during your appointment

Our clinicians are only licensed to provide services (virtual or not) in the state of New Jersey.

We truly believe that a good therapeutic relationship starts with honesty. That’s why we not only share how we work, but why we choose to work this way:

Ready to book? Let’s go!

Initial Assessment
15 min. | FREE

Intake Session
60 min. | $175

Therapy Session
60 min. | $150

This is what you’re here for, right? Therapy sessions will be scheduled in a cadence that you and your clinician determine is appropriate. As appointments are virtual, you can get settled in your favorite chair at home, or find a quiet place between meetings to practice “self care.”

Intake sessions allow your clinician to get to know you. In order to best assist you on your therapeutic journey, it helps to start with a solid foundation. During this appointment, you and your clincian start to build that foundation.

(Late cancellations/no-shows are charged $75)
